BERRIGAN LOOKS FORWARD TO CARDIFF

Shaun Berrigan is counting down the days until next month’s Millennium Magic event so he can put to rest the pain of losing to city rival’s Hull KR and is delighted to learn that the roof at the Millennium Stadium will be shut.

“It was the worst game I’ve ever played in,” admits Berrigan speaking to the official Millennium Magic matchday programme about the 11-10 defeat to Hull KR.
However, the Australian international is not referring to his performance on Good Friday but the conditions that he faced at Craven Park.

“I wasn’t too happy about the performance either, but the weather made things really difficult.” Berrigan added.

Both sides had to cope with swirling gales and hailstorms in the Easter fixture, a game that was won with a late James Webster drop goal. Luckily for Berrigan the weather will not be a problem for him in the Welsh capital as the Millennium Stadium roof will be closed.

On Sunday 4 May Hull FC and Hull KR will meet in the second Millennium Magic, an event that will see all six fixtures from Round 13 of the engage Super League played over one weekend in the Welsh capital - with three games played back-to-back each day.

Since joining Hull FC from Brisbane Broncos in the close season Berrigan has been taken aback by the rivalry between the two East Yorkshire clubs and confesses it is like nothing he’s ever experienced before.

“Back home the Broncos and Queensland Cowboys have a rivalry and get big crowds, but that was a regional rivalry.” he said.
“It doesn’t divide the city like it does here. As a player, it just makes for a great atmosphere. It’ll be great to hear those fans singing their songs in Cardiff.”

A victory in Cardiff against Hull KR could be just what Hull FC need according to Berrigan to kick start their injury hit season.

“Injuries have been a factor, but we’ve just not been playing to our potential,” he added. “But the league’s pretty tight still, so fingers crossed we’ll get a few players back, we can put those injuries behind us, eliminate the mistakes and if we get a boost of a win in Cardiff we can hopefully get a good run going to get us back in the hunt.”

Tickets to Millennium Magic are still available priced £18 per day for adults or £30 for a weekend pass. Concessions start from just £5 per day.
