DOUBLE BOOST FOR STANLEY GENE |
Stanley Gene has received a double boost as his testimonial
year reaches the half-way point. Nicky Barmby, the Hull City legend and
ex England International, has agreed to attend his book launch on
Friday 27th June 2008 at the Royal Hotel.
Nick will join Stan on the top table to answer questions from an
expected capacity audience. Football supporters are now expected to mix
with rugby league supporters in an event which is proving very popular.
The following evening Tony Smith, the Great Britain Coach, will fly
back from France especially to attend a testimonial Dinner, also to be
held at the Royal Hotel. Smith will join Steve McNamara and Steve
Prescott who have already committed themselves to the event.
Gene was full of praise for both Nick and Tony, he said: “It is a great
gesture from both of them, I can’t thank them enough. They are both
legends and I feel honoured that they are taking time to support me in
this way. Tony has already written the foreword for my book so it will
be nice to present him and Nick with a copy.”
“We only have a couple of tables left at both functions and I know
these will be snapped up before the day. It should be a great weekend
for me as I launch my book at Waterstones in Huddersfield on the
Saturday afternoon.”
With a chance to play a round of golf with a Rovers player, the week
before, at Brandseburton Golf Club, Stanley Gene is certainly rounding
off the first six-months in style.
