|
Hull Kingston Rovers secured city bragging rights yet again
as the East Hull based side recorded their third successive victory
over city rivals Hull FC in Cardiff at the Millennium Stadium on
Sunday.

.there’s a lot of local pride at stake in our derbies and I know how
much it means to the fans to claim city bragging rights.. Head Coach
Justin Morgan
Rovers triumphed 42-6 at the KC Stadium last September to ensure
their survival in the top flight, claiming a Craven Park win at Easter
beating FC 11-10 and recording a third victory in yet another intense
meeting between the two sides this weekend winning 22-17.
As all-time crowd attendances reach a high at Craven Park the record
books have to be updated yet again, as the latest achievement for the
club in over 20years has been recorded – it was back in 1988 when the
Robins last recorded three straight wins over FC.
KR’s performance was one of sheer grit and determination, ranked 8th in
the engage Super League table as FC drop to 10th position after the
defeat Morgan admits that patience and concentration won them the game.
Morgan said: "Even though we sucked a lot of petrol out of the tank
they lifted their chins off the floor and defended repeated sets,
making it a tough and exciting clash.
"To our players’ credit they showed a huge amount of courage and
determination, we had plenty of ball, and we should have looked for a
few better decisions with ball in hand, but we kept our composure for
the entire 80 minutes, and that is all I asked of the boys."
The engage Super League encounter at the Millennium Magic event in
Cardiff was a fantastic spectacle of Rugby League and credit goes to
the travelling fans that turned up in their droves to cheer the boys on
to victory.
“There’s a lot of local pride at stake in our derbies and I know how
much it means to the fans to claim city bragging rights. The players
were overwhelmed with the support they received by the fans, to travel
all that way and be as vocal as they are at Craven Park is testament to
their passion and commitment to this club.”
