ROVERS WELCOME BACK WHEELDON |
|
Hull Kingston Rovers are delighted to confirm that former
Rovers Academy player Scott Wheeldon will be returning to the club next
season after signing a two year deal today.
...Scott is a talented young man with huge amounts of potential and
with regular game time all will witness that he is a force to be
reckoned with... Head Coach Justin Morgan
The East Hull amateur player spent some time at Rovers as a
youngster when he first ventured into the world of rugby league, going
on to join city rivals Hull FC in 2006.
The hard working 22-year-old prop forward forced his way into the black
and white side under the guidance of Peter Sharp, producing some
storming performances for the team off the bench, cementing his place
in the regular line-up for the season, and is a real coup for the Red
and Whites.
Hard work and determination has led to Scott establishing himself as a
regular first team rugby league player, excited at the prospects that
lie ahead for Scott he commented: “The priority at this stage of my
development as a player is more game time.
“I will be 23 at the start of next season and am keen to expand my game, which can only be achieved by more time on the field.
“Rovers have shown their ambition by just missing out on a top-six place in only their second season in Super League.
“While it will be an obvious wrench leaving fellow young players and
mates at the KC, it will be an exciting challenge to rejoin the club
where I first sampled club rugby in the Academy.”
As Rovers secured the cross city move this week Head Coach Justin
Morgan is confident that as Scott returns to his grass roots he will
impose himself on oppositions and said: “Scott is a talented young man
with huge amounts of potential and with regular game time all will
witness that he is a force to be reckoned with. Its fantastic that we
can attract young players of his calibre, he has invaluable game time
under his belt and I’m sure will regularly feature within the side at
Rovers next year.”
